It needs a buffer cus it’s not about cars.
Sanders shouldn’t run for the Presidency again
.
That’s all.

Totally agree. He should stick to making fried chicken. That’s where his real service to humanity is.

agreed
now stop having opinions :p
(but seriously.... yay... another 2 years of infighting before the elections even start.... ima try to avoid this round... not like i get a fucking vote anyway)

I think US elections could learn from Europeans, making elections legally shorter could be very good for everyone.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:04 |

What should he do, then? He’s won every election he’s been in except the one against Hillary since like 2006 at least? Retire?
This take needs a lot more explaining.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:05 |

Agreed.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:07 |

its a lot easier to put up with for sure
tho... i think it took a good 6 months if not more before goverment actually got itself working after the elections here ... having a bazzilion parties trying to achieve a majority side will do that...

I will vote for a bowl of warm pudding if that’s what is running against the current abomination, but I agree. He had his shot. I’d say the same for Biden.

You’re not wrong.

He should remain a senator knowing that it is partly thanks to his message in 2016 that a generation of liberal lawmakers entered congress in 2018, and that thus far most frontrunners of a party he doesn’t actually belong to endorse big sections of his message.
The issue with Bernie is the following;
A. The US is currently ran by an authoritarian psychopath. The most important mission the Rs and the Ds have is to remove Trump from office. Segmenting votes the way Bernie did in 2016 is not going to help, and a strong frontrunner from both parties needs to come out now. Defeating the incumbent is very hard, but in this cycle it’s very important they do.
B. If he primaries with Democrats, he’s gonna lose again because of the moderates and because of the superdelegates.

But
why?
My
only
issue
is
that
he
’
ll
be
very
old (
which
is
true
for
a
few
other
possible
contenders
too)
I do appreciate that he’s running as a Democrat, despite not actually being a Democrat. Him as an independent candidate would guarantee 4 more years of cheetolini.

It's also irrealistic to expect change in 100 days...

I hope Bill Weld can beat Trump in the republican primary. Weld was Gary Johnson’s running mate and a
successful republican governor of Mass in
the 90s.
And yes, I agree that Bernie should not run again even though I voted for him last time
. Martin O’Malley should run again!

R emaining a senator entails “ running for office”, so I did not take that to be what you meant.
If there’s one thing you can count on, it’s that Democrats will find many, many ways to fuck up this election in the next two years.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:25 |

oh i wasnt expecting chang e... i was just expecting them to be able to form a coalition in less than that
then maybe change

I can see how my writing was confusing, I changed it.
Certianly, I’m sure somehow Wasserman Sc
hultz and Weiner will be the chairs of the DNC druing it.

governing is of hard.

yep
tbh... they do a pretty okay job here.... at least everything stays open and gets paid whilst they try to get their shit in order

I want Trump to get re-elected, so I’m fully in favor of both Sanders and Howard Shultz running.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:38 |

Trump has won every election he’s been in as well, including the one against Hillary.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:39 |

I think Bernie is going to split the dems and end up helping trump anyway in the end... just like in 2016
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:42 |

welp.. fair enough... but if he does... can we agree to keep him out of the news at least 3 days a week?
pretty please?
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:46 |

Doubtful. News organizations love him based on the ratings he drives.
Do you ‘member when “covfefe” was all the rage ? Or “shithole”? Or “little rocket man”? You couldn’t pay somebody enough to write news stories this good.

Cold hard truth... the media.

I’d argue that the DNC mishandling it was the bigger problem.
2016 was a great success for him - he got the word out on his beliefs and built the start of a more progressive movement in the US, and pulled the Ds to the left - no small feat. I’m sure he thinks he can build further on that by running again in 2020.
While it would be nice for everyone to rally around 1 candidate to beat Trump, who gets to decide who that Is? Sanders wants to have a say in that, and l can’t blame him.
Note - I like the guy, but I’m certainly not a supporter of his.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:50 |

yeah... thats why i said please
fuckin make it so if you plan to keep him
or my liver will fail
thats like kicking a puppy.... do it out of the kindness in your hearts
![]() 02/19/2019 at 20:59 |

Could you imagine a Trump/Hillary/Bernie running? Who knows the controvercy that would crop up.
Bernie would be going on about the shut down and Hillary asking why she wasn't locked up over her emails. Trump gets so mad Hillary gets arrested and Bernie has a non-fatal heart attack but takes him out of the race.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 21:20 |

And do you think he should no longer run for office? (That’s what the post originally said about Sanders)
![]() 02/19/2019 at 23:06 |

Idk, but for some reason, this year people have seem to forgotten what a primary is and the purpose of it.
![]() 02/19/2019 at 23:37 |

Because everyone is gnashing their teeth over the urgency to get rid of the orange menace.
I agree with that sentiment, but I’m afraid the D’s will implode over the stress of it.

Read the book "Losers" by Michael Lewis. Weld ain't gonna win shit

I think that he’s just not great with timing. The stakes were very high in 2016, and I think
it’s undeniable that the DNC is a corrupted organization that failed to cater to the needs of their voters. But on the other hand, I think Sanders’s ideological advantage is over.
Harris a
nd Warren already endorse big parts of his message, and they also have the plus of already being democrats and as such having more internal support (Specially Harris imho).
I think Bernie had the ability to connect with white rural voters, but in the end it also means that he discouraged many rural voters from going for Hillary (who not only had the popular advantage, but also the institutional advantage of superdelegates)
Maybe Bernie voters in 2016 saw Trump did the opposite of what Sanders wanted to do, and as such they would vote for liberal candidates no matter what, but he’s still a risk that I don’t think Democrats should give him the luxury of supporting.
![]() 02/20/2019 at 11:02 |

I would agree on timing.
The situation is a bit of a Prisoner’s Dilemma - if everyone on the left cooperates, they win. But everyone has too much to gain personally to cooperate.
The D’s have to accommodate him to an extent, or he could threaten to run as an independent - a viable threat since he’s not actually a D ( I know you know that, but a lot of Americans don’t really realize that).
Best case scenario, Harris, Warren and others blunt his impact to the point where he isn’t a big factor. He already has a problem attracting black voters, so it wouldn’t take much to make his campaign dead.
Whatever happens, I just hope to hell that they find a strong candidate that can rebuff the inevitable attacks without folding or alienating the Progressives. Hint - it’s not Warren.

I think Warren suffered a lot because of the native american DNA ordeal...
![]() 02/20/2019 at 11:12 |

Yes, because she handled it very poorly. And it won’t go away.
![]() 02/20/2019 at 11:50 |

No, because it’s particularly hurtful to minority groups... which Sanders also has problems with. So Harris might carry minority groups a lot better.
![]() 02/20/2019 at 12:04 |

It will be interesting. Harris seems like a good candidate, though I admit that I don’t know much about her. A lot can change in the next 21 months, including new candidates popping up.
![]() 02/20/2019 at 12:08 |

I think that she’s the best choice out of the current crop of frontrunners. Admitting I know little about Booker who is also quite socially progressive (if not fiscally)

I admit that I haven’t followed too closely, but there are a number of possibilities out there that I could live with, including those two. I’ll start paying closer attention when we get to Iowa and NH - this is all pre-season now.
