I’m just about to get started on cooking a ribeye steak, side of sauteed onions and mushrooms. I have no wife but I think the treat is the steak itself.

I’ve burned chocolate before (I normally don’t mess with a double boiler, which occasionally comes back to bite me), but never enough to set off a smoke alarm let alone necessitate the fire department.
