2010 Rav4 V6 Limited. I can tell everyone it’s a front-engined naturally-aspirated AWD door-back Lotus!
V6 Rav4s are tough to find, but they’re all a little cheaper than I would have suspected.
The Vibe still has relatively low miles — it might be worth a little...
Oh forget it, I’m so repressed from not buying things that I’m now looking at buying stuff for other people. I’ve been linking Redfin listings to a friend for the last two months (she is looking) and getting more excited than her and her husband about stuff that isn’t for me. Also been egging on another friend to buy a new Tacoma (came within inches, but tried to haggle an extra 2k and walked away).
I’ll go back to be financially conservative now... I GUESS.

Transverse V6's are scary. Toyota makes the best cars, but even they are not immune to the inherent horrors of a transverse V6, let alone one shoehorned into a “small” car like the Rav4. It’s bad enough on something bigger like a Camry/RX/Sienna/Highlander let alone a Rav4 with presumably smaller hood area to work with.
Plus, the gas mileage isn’t as good as the 4.
This is noticeable in most FWD cars with the choice of I4 or V6. Used values are about the same, or the V6 is actually cheaper to buy used. Because of these issues.

What sort of issues?

“4x4".
A coworker of mine recently picked up a similar Rav in loaded trim with low miles for relatively cheap. It looks alright enough I guess , but it’s still a RAV4.

Shit like this
Have you ever tried to work on a transverse V6? A lot of things require pulling the intake, which can take a whole day by itself!
And of course the poor mpg.

Don’t see that colour very often.
I thought the same thing this week when the Foz didn’t start- maybe it’s time to go full Toyota in our driveway.
But she loves that darn subie, and more importantly she loves that it is paid off.

I liked my wife’s RAV4 hybrid we bought this summer so much I started looking for a V6 around here but none were that cheap. They were all $15k and had 150k miles on them.
I love the wagon I bought , but a small SUV would also have been fun.

If it helps the CX5 performed admirably in this bullshit snow. Like a little tractor. It just went and asked for more.

I tried to get my wife into a 3rd row V6 rav4, but no dice. it would have done 90% of what the GX goes but using half the fuel. I got close to buying one new to replace my 1st gen, but even though it was fast, it wasn’t nearly as fun as the old one.

Not fun? My wife will REALLY like it now!

Tough to find a good (and obviously newer) CX-5 for $ 9k though

Nope, never worked on one. Jake’s picture does give me some idea, though. Does look like a PITA

That is without a doubt the best looking generation of Rav-4.

Ms. RPM has exactly this car in a nice metallic dark green. She loves it. Faster than it looks and a very comfortable and practical around-town and road-trip ride. Highly recommended as a wife car.
