I doubt if the plug was actually sold that way though, seeing as it has a proper fuse holder.

Safety. Are you prepared to pay for it?

As it was on a cheap plasma cutter I wouldn’t be surprised if it came that way.

Approximately way more tha n the building wiring, way way more than any screwed connection, way way way more than the building circuit breaker if there is one , and one metric fuckload more than any poor human who gets in the loop.
Having said that, plugs everywhere else in the world than the UK don’t have built in fuses, so it’s no worse in practice than what the rest of us live with every day. It just says VERY bad things about the manufacturer’ s attitude to quality, their customers and the law.

I feel a need to know what product this is.

Don’t forget a .22 casing works quite easily as well. And as proven by Mythbusters, if it’s a live round the spike in current can cause the gunpowder to ignite

2/10, would not fuse again.

Similar. With more granularity. I personally use the alerting type.

Also, i t looks like the neutral wire has torn insulation and if I’m not seeing wrong the grounding wire insulation is scratched enough that you can see copper through it.
This is some C-class manufacturing or then someone’s been playing electrician.

Excellent fuse
choice.
My chart includes the
equivalent .223 for a louder alert in noisy environments
.

One of the many cheap plasma cutters.

I think we are unique in using ring main feeds. Blame the war for that one. The breaker for a typical household unit is 32A at a spicy 240V, which would certainly be a lot more than the rest of the plug would cope with.
Decent kit that needs more than a standard 13A supply is usually sold with bare ends so you can put your own Ceeform connector on. This is not one of those.

May I ask what brand?

The brown earth wire is too short anyway. It’s meant to be longer than the others so if someone was to pull on the wires, the earth wire would be the last to be dislodged.

The whole thing is a sorry sight.

That well known manufacturer of metal working equipment, Hitbox. Looks like it’s available on Amazon USA as well if you’re feeling lucky.

Ye’, the U.K. plug is one of, if not thee, safest plugs in the world, it has several safety features and redundancies, several of which have been rendered, well, redundant by how this plug has been assembled.

Thanks. I’ve never bought any of their products, but I’ll make a point of avoiding them in the future.
