Besides BMW (and only on certain models,) who makes seats with thigh extensions? Volvo maybe?
Would love to have them on my next car, but it seems like a rare option.

I don’t think volvo has them. But lincoln has those cool seats where you can even extend just one leg.

Ooh..1 leg only. Sounds interesting. I can’t see myself in a Lincoln - but then again the only Lincoln I’ve ever ridden in was a MASSIVE 1972-ish boat of a car.

+ Audi cars and SUVs, except maybe for the A3. Porsche SUVs, and I assume the Pananananananamera. VW Touareg, I think.

Most Audi’s offer a sport seat option with extendable thigh support. Some Cadillac vehicles offer this as well.

Audi! My 2014 A4 quattro with sport package has them. But I think it’s a sport seats thing, the standard seats don’t have them. S4 def does

Hyundai! My i30N has the thigh extenders, probably thanks to Albert Biermann who came to Hyundai and the N program, from the BMW M program.

Audi sounds like a good option to check out, thanks.

I’ve always wanted the Pananananananamera! :)

I love having them in my E46 just for the fact that the passenger seat gap is the perfect place to slot my phone while I’ m driving.
T h ey don’t make much difference to me comfort-wise , I feel like my legs are too long regardless.

Volvo has them in the the newer models - V90 to be sure.

Interesting!

Volkswagen has them on some models I think. (And other VAG brands like Seat and Skoda might too). Opel also has them if I recall correctly.

Had them on both my E92 and now my ELR. Honestly even with long legs I’ve never found a reason to extend them. The Cadillac ones are way nicer , they are designed to keep a more uniform seat surface, so don’t allow a massive collection of crumbs or gunk. Even fully retracted the BMW seats always had a crevice full of crap.

Volvo has them, just drove a V90 with them

Basically every BMW offers them if you get the sport seat option.
The Fiat 124 Abarth has them, maybe the ND Miata does also?

our A3 etron has them. not automated, but they are there

Oh nice! Just went to the configurator and it’s an option. So that’s why I wasn’t aware of them. Also checked for v60 and xc90. Available for all of them.

Mercedes and Mini both have it. I dislike it because it just make a crevice to let dirt in

New Lincoln (like the past ~2 years) is a completely different animal.

I noticed them on the upcoming 2020 Legacy XT

I like the 230i, but BMW pricing just pisses me off. I want a stripper 230i with Apple Car Play. Can’t do it. You need the Nav option, which requires the Premium Package. All of a sudden your 39k car is a 46k car. Ugh.

I do like me some turbo Buick.

The pics of the brown nappa leather look quite nice on the Touring XT. Good catch!

There was a pair in my 1994 Mazda B-3000. The driver’s seat also had electrically inflatable lumbar and side bolsters. For a little truck, it had some really nice seats.

They were available in the XC60 I was looking at but it just seemed unnecessary to me, but I’m also short.

What’s worse is BMW makes Carplay a goddamn subscription now, unlike every other car company. You get it free for a year and then have to pay for it like satellite radio. Fuck that.
I’m on my second BMW but between that subscription bullshit and not even offering Android Auto, I'm done.

Cadillac does.

My brother’s A3 has them

The top of the line Lincoln models have individual extenders for each leg if you spec the 28(?) way seating option.

MB finally has them in the E with W213. S got them from W221 production starting 2005.

Audi has them with the S models. My S4 they were manual and on my S8 they are powered

Audi made em back in 2000’s assume they still do

It’s really ridiculous . Price gouging to the max.

That’s the old one. The new one has the 3.6L V6 NA

My E55 has them. The pneumatic ones, not the sliding ones like in the photo above.
![]() 02/09/2019 at 12:27 |

Mercedes does. And has for a long time. My 2001 has them, but they're pneumatic, not the electric sliding type, so it's not obvious just looking at them. Which is great because there's no extra spot on the seat to clean French fries or whatever out of.

Thigh extensions? I had the same E55, and I recall the pneumatic seats, but I don’t recall it being anything near to a BMW style extension. I really like thigh supports, as it allows me to be that much lazier.
Here’s a pic of my interior the day after I bought the car, way back during the Dubya era:

There’s an air bladder at the front of the seat cushion. Front switch on the controls. It extends the seat cushion. Yours definitely would have had it.

S60 I think as an option.

My e30 has them. Took awhile
to get them adjusted comfortably, but once there set they make a difference.

My F355 did (manual though, as I would prefer all seat controls
), as does my Jag XJ
(powered)

Ooh, just remembered that my Lexus ES had it too.
