For some reason the dry cracking on my fingers all started to burn after reading that sentence.

Wow.
You know what I could pick off the bushes outside right now?
Nothing . Because they are dead from the cold. I keep telling myself that at least we don't have malaria here, and that I'd take the cold over that. It's"only" -23 C out right now.

We had a polar vortex here the past two days where it got all the way down to 32 degrees F. Today, it’s biting cold at 45 degrees F.
Then again, a 60-year-old,
1,200 square foot home with three bedrooms in decent condition would be a
bargain
at $750,000.

Ooof. Yeah, with housing prices like that, staying here definitely sounds more affordable.

I paid about $160k for my house in 1998 or so. I build on a modest addition in the back for around $150k. Home prices haven’t quit climbing since I moved in and were in a very weird low at the time. We were blessed.

Blessed indeed! We bought our first house two years ago. For us, it’s not an investment, but a place to live. At the time, we were house sitting for some relatives for a year and a half, and had originally thought we were going to go back to renting, but the numbers didn’t make sense. It’s the first time I’ve ever been in debt, and I’m trying to pay back the mortgage as fast as reasonably possible.
