Commonwealth Cars in Australia is a fleet of 142 vehicles used to ferry politicians, judges, etc... about their duties. The aging fleet of Holden Caprices has held up to the task but is now being replaced with Toyota Camry hybrids and BMW 6 Series GTs.

According to the Department of Finance, the 6 Series GT finished with the best overall score, and will take on VIP duties, while the fuel-efficient Camry Hybrid will be used for the most common trips, including around Parliament House.
The Camry Hybrid combines its four-cylinder, 2.5-litre engine with an electric motor, reducing fuel use to a claimed 4.5 litres per hundred kilometres.
The BMW 620d GT, on the other hand, gets a 2.0-litre turbo diesel good for 140kW/400Nm, and retails at $99,900 plus on-road costs.
The Toyotas will take up the majority of the grunt work with the BMWs doing more official duties.
Apparently the cars are eco friendly and will save the tax payer AUS$100,000 a year in fuel and maintenance costs.
The Toyota and BMW vehicles retail for around $40,000-$50,000 (similar to the Caprice) and $80,000-$120,000.
