Since I no longer have a room mate, I have an extra room to put stuff in. I decided to finally make a space for my ancient computer stuff. The table is an old drawing table a neighbor threw out a few months ago. Cleaned it up and it’s just enough space to hold an 80's Kaypro II and a Gorilla Banana dot matrix printer.
They both still work, although I’ve forgotten how to configure the printer. Luckily I still have the manuals so it just takes a few minutes of following instructions to get it set up.

Has the Kaypro been recapped or is it still running strong on the original components?

I think the PS is still original. I did have to clean the connections when I got it because it wasn’t sending enough juice to the disk drives.
Here’s pic under the hood:
lots of pretty ceramic housed Motorola RAM in there.

There’s a little piezoelectric beeper inside beeps every time a key is pressed too. It’s pretty satisfying to use.

Single sided, double density. I think 240K capacity?

nice - I knew a guy in jr high who’s dad had one of those early Compaqs like that with the small screen in the case and the keyboard that covered it until you folded it out. Paid over 2 grand for it in early 80's dollars - crazy.

I had one of these in the mid ‘90s for sh**s and giggles. While technically portable, that was one heavy briefcase when packed up. I think I paid $20 or $30(usd) for it from someone on a BBS in Cincinnati.
I wish I still had it to show the youth (my kids and the 20/30 somethings at work) what state of the art computing looked like only a few decades ago..
