My wife found an old pic of her dad (no longer with us) and wanted to know what kind of car he had. And I, in my shame, could not immediately answer. So I’m sure one of you will get this in eight seconds, so thanks in advance!

Late 70s Toyota Celica. I think...

Definitely a 1st gen Celica coupe.

1st gen Celica. Very cool car. Believe it’s a 70-73 model.

That's definitely it, I kinda thought about it but they're an all-american family so I brushed it off and thought maybe a Chevy Monza or something.

They are pretty rare now, there are way more Datsuns like mine around. I almost never see these. In Hawaii they all rusted like the Datsuns, I haven’t see one there in years. But even CA I don’t see many, I think Datsun outsold them by a lot with the Zs.

The 1st-gen Celica definitely took inspiration from its American contemporaries. In any event, cool car for the right price is hard to argue with.

Yeah, my dad actually had an old Z, not sure exactly what year, I think it was newer than yours though I just remember window louvers. I loved it so much but I was like 7 back then, don't really remember much other than sleeping in it the night before they were coming to take it away.

Turns out I’m just dumb, it’s my wife’s mother’s family that’s the all- americans, I’ve never even actually met her dad’s family. (Both her parents died before we even met)

1st-gen Toyota Celica! Very cool, and very uncommon nowadays!

Fairly collectible car now, values have gone fairly nutty. This is maybe a 73-74 with those bumpers - small overriders before the big bumpers hit for 75 (I think)

Definitely a cool car, unfortunately both him and the car are long gone. Nice to see my wife interested in a car though.

Too bad it's not still around. My dad had an old Z when I was growing up too that I miss dearly.
