My Outback is at the dealer getting its 24,000 mile service and they are trying to fix my squeaky driver’s seat. So I have a 2020 Subaru Forester as a loaner, so AMA

How is it? How slow does it feel? Would you recommend it?
(As I look at Outbacks I figure I should consider the Forester)

I think the Outback is definitely more “premium”to me.
The 2.5 isn’t terrible, groans a bit when you really get on it. Its slow, but not as slow as I thought it would be. Its alot taller and narrower than my Outback and the steering is a bit twitchy. But the ride is a lot less floaty which is nice.
Its certainly not a bad car by any means. I prefer my Outback over this but if the price was right, I wouldn’t rule out a Forester.

its the fastest car on the planet!
The ride is a lot stiffer than my Outback which is nice , but this 2.5 does not compare to my 3.6 at all.

Had a 2019 “sport” as a loaner a few months ago. The skynet nanny stuff bugs the cr@p out of me, but its a super functional vehicle. It’s quite a bit bigger than I was expecting.

Its about 2
in taller than the outback but 2
in narrower and 8in shorter. Doesn’t seem like much, but when you drive one then the other, its definitely noticeable (I could instantly tell when I parked in my covered spot noting how much extra room there was between my car and my neighbor’s car)
.
But its a good size for what most people need and I would certainly buy it over a lot of similar compact SUVs. I’d be happier if the 2.4T was an option.
