The best Dakota.

2003 5.9 R/T. They stopped putting badges on the corners in 2000.

Been missing my Dakota since 2014. Tried to make my Ram more like my Dakota. Had the opportunity to get another Dakota. So I got a Dakota. 2003, 117k miles. Only a few things that need correcting.

Nice, i was just talking about the 99 dakota R/T earlier today, his was painted deep amethest purple which was a rare color, i myself had a 2000 durango R/T which is the same engine and trans but setup with awd, was a blast in the wet weather because it could always leave in a hurry.

Most of the 99s got bought back after Dodge didn't lower the tow rating. A few had bent frames due to the lower springs and the buyback deal was too sweet to resist. So many sold and got a newer one.

and new blinker fluid.
Very nice Dakota. My dad almost bought a dakota single cab R/T manual in 2000. Bright blue with the stripes. Mom said no, and got a S-10 which I now have :)

R/Ts never came with a manual. The NV3500 was rated for 330lbft and the 5.9 made 345. The 5.2 and 4.7 did though. I had an 02 4.7+5 speed that I loved from 2001 until I booped the butt of a semi when the trailer brakes failed in 2014. For a couple years I had the same headlights as this one does...my plan is to replace them as I didn't like them much.

Nice choice. Does that one have rear discs? At least the front brakes are an upgrade over the ‘99s. This is from 3 years ago, the last time I was able to detail mine. Always liked those chrome wheels on yours though.

Yep, 03+04 got rear disks. The chrome is flaking off a couple of the rims though. Not sure exactly how I'm going to address that in the future.

Might be able to find a nice set of the 10” viper take offs for a replacement.

True, was considering paint or powedercoat. Btw, you don’t know of a good Dakota forum? The one I used to moderate doesn’t exist anymore.

Dakotart.com is still out there, but not sure how active it is. There is a lot of good info in the archives.

How to tell Dakota’s by year:
1987-1991: recessed sealed beam headlights, 5 lug wheels.
1992-1996: fenders grew 4" to accommodate the V8 without requiring the electric fan that the Shelby had. Six lug wheels. Smooth square front. ‘92+93 had a 3" exhaust stock. The ‘93 of the best years.
1997-1999: rounded shape, came with corner badges.
2000-2002: 5.2 replaced with the 4.7, lost corner badges, a few other cost cutting measures.
2003-2004: Rear disks, black decal between extended cab windows removed.
2005-2007: These are easy to spot since every other Dakota looks better. 5 lug returned. 6 speed manual available though.
2008-2011: Return to a square style, gained the 303HP 4.7.

Dakota-Durango is what I used to be on but it’s probably dead.
