I really wish they had found a better Diesel engine. a 4 cylinder would do just fine. I think the 4 banger from the Mercedes Sprinter vans would have been a better fit.

Diesel v6s just don’t make sense.

Diesel Jeep? Ja, i Sverige .

En 2,2-liters turboladdad motor med 200 h äs tkrafter. What more could the Swedish Jeep lover want?

Yeah, people have been swapping in Merc I5s into Wranglers for years , there are kits out there.

Try finding diesel on the trail. No one will be of help.

I haven’t seen many fuel stations of any kind out in the boonies.

But you’ve seen plenty fellow off-roaders with jerry cans filled with gasoline!

Yes, and they are cowards

Isn’t that the point though? that you shouldn’t need to? Granted the t ank on the diesel wranglers is tiny so off-road range is likely not much better than the 3.6 , but at least diesel fuel is a lot less scary to store than gas.

I kinda agree...but...I think they know that people buying a diesel Jeep aren’t buying Sport models, they are buying loaded rubi’s and saharas and those people buy the diesel because its the top spec engine with all them torques , not because its the economic one.

All the monies. What does a diesel Rubi run? 45-55K? Crazy money for a Jeep Wrangler (says a guy who bought a Mustang in that price range - “ thanks V8 convertible only available in premium trim !”).

So be like them and carry jerry cans with diesel?

That’s what the diesel guys on Gambler rallies do and they don’t seem to have any issues running hundreds of miles deep into nowhere without getting str anded.

It’s a good piece of mind to know you can buy gas from someone on the trail if needed

That’s what they’ll have to do. Not everyone carries extra fuel. Not everyone needs extra. But if you need some...

Maybe Its just who I am but I never don’t have reserve range when I do a trail.  I have sold gas to someone before, but I still can’t figure out why you would go into the backcountry without having enough range and/or some reserve.
