Putting up a miniature tree and then putting lights on it was enough effort, you think I’ve got enough effort left over to decorate it too?

I’ve never put up a tree in the entire time I’ve lived on my own. I don’t plan to start.

My mom usually puts up 3 trees (1 “real”, 2 aluminum) , so that evens it out. She has a metric crapton of old ornaments and decorations. My favorite is probably one just like this, bought new by her and out every year. I remember playing with it when I was a little kid, as I had a thing for trains:

I don’t have a tree but I do have amongst a few ornaments one of the chips from drilling a large piece of tool steel many years ago. It was such a perfect blued spiral (~6" long 3/4" diameter) that I kept it. I also have a glass pickle.

No tree? Jealous. Ever year we kid ourselves into thinking it will be magical getting one.

Every year we get ripped off by a yokel in a muddy field.

No tree. No decorations other than a display of old catalogs spread out in front of the TV. I don’t send cards, either.   Maybe I got too much of it growing up.  It takes my mom 2 days to decorate, and that’s just the inside of her house.  Another couple days to take it all down.

If I did have a tree, it would 100% be a prelit fake.

I have a few old ornaments floating around. I don’t put a ton on the tree each year because my wife describes my preferred decorating style as “excessive” to put it mildly.

Plus, I can’t really decorate outside due to a lack of outside plugs. I’ll probably rectify that this year though.

I do have an ornament made with ash from Mt St Helens.

I also add in a couple of my Star Trek ornaments each year. Which ones changes from year to year. Unfortunately after changing to LED lights on my tree I can’t plug in my older ornaments anymore. I may buy a small strand of incandescent lights once they’re marked down to use next year so I can plug them in again.

Before I found someone who wants to marry me, I was going to hang all of my Hot Wheels on a tree in my own home. That got t he ki bosh, But I still get to hang some of my own.

I actually have two Dickbutts in the tree. One is a really poorly done plasma cut version, another is a 3D print version. I’ll add photos when I get home.

Don’t feel bad if don’t want to hang the trac tors, I totally understand. I know they’ re super heavy and a pain in the ass to hang . I also unders tand they’re not everyone’ s cup of tea. Your wife must love them. /s
