This popped up on my FB feed from six years ago. I didn’t have Oppo posting privileges then, so I know I never posted it here. My baby here turns seven today. As you can see from the size of Hammer, he was also a baby then. They’ve grown up together, and their bond is pretty strong. I can’t believe how fast it’s going.

It looks like Hammer is about to get heel stomped.

And it only seems like it starts going faster.
My wife shared a picture of our 13-year-old with me taken many years ago when he was little and had his arm in a cast (jungle gym). I zoomed in and looked deep into his little eyes. He’s still that same kid, but he’s not much
into tickle fights with his old man anymore...

I can already sense the apparent acceleration of time. I simultaneously cannot believe it has already been seven years ... not can I really remember what life was like without her.

He loved tussling with her. And while he’ll bite (nip, really) me or my wife when we get playful with him, he’s never done that with the girls. He is infinitely patient with them.

I concur :)

Luckily I’ve also
got an almost-7-year-old who’s still game!

Nice!
I’ve got a 4-1/2 year old daughter as well. They’re both daddy’s girls, but the little one especially so.

Animals are very good at being calm and caring around babies. My dog is a bit over excited and mouthy when playing but when my sister’s goddaughter is over he’s very kind and gentle.
I do believe the goddaughter put him in his place by yanking on his ears at some point.

Oh my god a baby moose! I didn’t know he could be more adorable!
And I’m sure you’ll enjoy this: my mom got Mu a tie for his check-up at the vet. They loved it. I loved it. He wasn’t a fan, but he wore it.

Mu i s so handsome with a tie! Hammer would never let that stay on. His collar originally had a bell on it, that didn’t last long.
I’ll have to dig up a picture of when we first got him. Emma was like 7th months old, and Hammer weighed one pound ... ONE!

I was shocked. The poor thing HATES going to the vet. But he didn’t make a sound in the vet and he kept it on. But the girls at the vet all LOVED it. And the vet absolutely adores him.
Mu used to wear a collar but for whatever reason we took it off so he is just pure fluff now. And I think he’s more handsome for it.
I can’t believe the moose used to be so small. I think you can tell from the pictures, but Mu is a small thing. He only weighs ten pounds. And when we got him he could fit in our hands. We were afraid to lose him in the house so we carried him everywhere, which continues to this day...

Maybe the tie kept him calm!
The once a year Hammy goes in the carrier is for his annual exam. He is VERY hard to get in the carrier. When I have to do it myself, I have to trap him on the porch. Last year I had my wife’s help, and he scratched the bajeebus out of her. Once he’s in the carrier, he meows CONSTANTLY the entire way there. My daughters are adorable, they always try to calm him down and reassure him, but still he meows and meows and meows. As soon as he gets to the vet, he stops meowing. I honestly think he thinks we’re getting rid of him every time he goes in the carrier, until he sees the ve t’ s office and then he knows it’s just exam time. He’s easy to get back in the carrier when it’s time to leave the vet.
Hammer was originally found by a friend of a friend, stuck in an abandoned car in the farm field. He was teeny tiny. For the first couple of days he was home, he had a hard time getting up and down the basement stairs, his litter box is down there. But he grew really quickly ... and kept growing. He’s one big fuzzy barn cat now!

Mu is the same way. He cries in the car (as he climbs around), but he stopped saying anything once we got to the vet. And once he was back in the car the crying started again. I think he’s just calling me an asshole the whole time.
Mu and his siblings were found under a porch and a cousin of my sister’s friend found them and gave them away. Mu was actually called “CB” for “crack baby” as he was the runt and he was insane. My sister had to strong arm my mom into getting him. But we’re all so glad we got him.
