I actually love a good cold wet day in November or December for a nice bonfire. Crack a Celebration Ale and keep tossing brush on the fire. Always a good way to spend an afternoon, even though 43 degree drizzle is objectively terrible. There’s always a silver lining right?

Might be short on ladies but otherwise seems like a fine plan. Would do the same in your place.

43 and drizzle - yuk. I’d rather an indoor fireplace, but a bonfire will do just fine!

Sadly, it’s yet another TOBAN (total fire ban) day here today. And already smoky as from the fires up and down the Great Dividing Range. So no bonfires for us.
However, I envy you your drizzle.

We are lucky that we have to try - sometimes really hard - to get fires going here in the woods. There are times when that’s not true, and we do have forest fires, but nothing like the West.

I actually burned this particular pile in part because there’s a huge puddle next to another, bigger pile I’ve got. It’s like, 100sf and 1' deep in the middle (the puddle, not the brush pile)

Oh don’t worry, we had a fire in the woodstove inside, too.

The discomfort and privations were at issue. I’m sure your wife would be more than happy to spend time around a bonfire with you. U nlike those in the comments resistant to your idea of a good time. The weather indoors can be harder to endure than what I see in your photo.
