And finally they ditched the column shift. Inb4 the buttons will fail, the column shift will get loose after 50k miles and eventually the cable will snap. The Corvette is the only GM vehicle in our family that hasn’t had a cable snap.

Column shift is better for J-turns.

The Silverado should have had this interior, but I imagine it will be getting it regardless in the next year or so.

Not when you have to jiggle the shifter to get it to go into gear.

That only sometimes happens!*
*I may have also exploded our Silverado’s transmission, so I’m not the best expert on this

That would be a massive dump on everyone who already bough IMO

Agreed

You could say that about every improvement ever made to a car though

The last gen trucks and SUVs had different interiors. The same is true for these new ones.

Sooner rather than later, the Silverado interior will be upgraded due to heavy criticism.
However, it may not be exactly this based on recent history, but it should be better than the crap interior to put in the 2019.

Maybe for now, but the Silverado is supposed to get an emergency interior refresh for the 2021MY and the easiest thing to do would be to drop this dashboard in it. Considering it’s what they used to do for like 80 years, it’s plausible

That’s a GM problem not a column shifter problem I bet

GM needs to let the Cadillac interior designers do the rest of the lineup. And the Cadillac concept design team do the exteriors.

We have buttons in the Terrain and I love it. I think big, bulky shifters in the middle of the console are stupid; they take up a lot of space and are not a manual transmission.
I n a rare instance of brilliance, GM chose a design that alternates push buttons and pull toggles, which makes it a lot harder to accidentally put it in the wrong gear.

1. Column shift > Console shift. If I wanted a Console shift, I’d buy a manual, seeings I don’t, I want the center area clutter free.
2. Why do all modern interiors look cheap!?!?

I like the interior as well, though the screen looks very tacked on. I guess it is more in line with driver’s line of sight than if it was lower.

I’m crossing my fingers GM does a heavy refresh before I have to swap to a new work truck.

Ours sucks.
