Surely this, a monster truck that requires a ladder (or something???) to enter, can not be legal on US roads. Is it?

It really depends on the local laws and the desire to enforce those rules.
Where I live, the maximum frame height is 30 inches, but i would be shocked if it were enforced outside of add on charges in a dui or accident.

I’m sure he’s great at parking. I’m sure he NEVER cuts people off. I’m sure he’s super sweet to drive through workers who can’t reach him. I’m sure his personal life is super fulfilling.

From google: “Texas law mandates that headlights on any vehicle can be no higher than 52 inches from the ground”
I’d also bet that law is never enforced.

I’m sure he’s an upstanding citizen. A real role model.

In Saskatchewan? That's not legal. Bumpers are too high.

Assuming the police enforce any such laws this of regulation...
Spoiler alert: lots and lots of lifted trucks in Texas.

I’d say the relevant question is whether it’s included in Texas’ safety inspection, but when I lived in Texas I saw plenty of cars happily driving around with expired inspect/registration, and I understand it’s not hard to get an unscrupulous shop to pass you regardless, so maybe it doesn’t matter even if it’s included in the inspection checklist.
Here in Massachusetts we actually have some fairly strict rules about raising (and lowering) cars, so it’s rare you see the super bro trucks.

TIL Texas even has inspections, figured that state would try to keep the gubment out of yer car.
Michigan has pretty low frame/bumper laws but lol at them being enforced. Though I will say having no inspections is nice when I registered my 200k mile Jeep, Lexus and crossfire.

Texas has safety inspections everywhere (but I get the sense they are nowhere near as extensive as in New York or Massachusetts). Some counties (the more urban ones) also have emissions testing. The legislature did recently try to eliminate the safety inspections, but I’m pretty sure that bill was defeated. Either way, I saw a lot of staggeringly unsafe cars on the road.

Here’s one done 100% correctly. Proper suspension, legal lighting, making an absurd amount of power. Literally just sounds like a huge turbocharger on wheels is barreling down the road. It’s shockingly normal to drive just... really high.

I want to see him tackle the 11'8" bridge...

When you raised the body by 5 ft, but your ground clearance is still 1.5 ft.
