$41,000 actually doesn’t seem too bad for this.
As for one I’m genuinely interested in:
V6 does it no favors, but there’s easily $1500 of parts here that would bolt on to my ‘99.

I’m not even mad, a custom Motorcycle Racing RV is pretty cool. I only stuck to the first page since there was 1000+ results.
There was also a detailed naked man nequin lamp..but best stick the auto related.

It’s all just from this one dealer because they’ve been too lazy put the actual paint color so the option is just “custom” for each of them. I’m sure it is.

Doesn’t appeal to me, but definitely the most interesting:
FORD SEDAN CUSTOM 1936 $16600 (Haverhill)
1936 Ford Sedan Custom 318 Mopar motor completely rebuilt with only 386 miles. 3 speed automatic on the floor. Bucket seats, new tires with 15” aluminum wheels. NEW: exhaust with duel setup, radiator, starter, alternator, spark plugs, and brakes. Very good heater, very good in shows just look at this rod, good running and very nice rider. Also has radio fm stereo with cd and 4 speakers, has rear window fan. Removeable hood, panels and front fenders. A lot of money went in this street rod and I’m only selling it for $16,600. All inspected just took off the road and garaged. Title in hand. Too much to list!
Runner up :
2012 CADILLAC CTS CUSTOM SHOW CAR, 30K MILES, PRISTINE $19650
Sure it’s just an orange Cadillac, but it’s orange enough to have it’s own site detailing how orange it is: https://aspireautosports.com/cadillac-cts-coupe-orange-ice-2012/ (actually two, but the pictures are broken here: http://dimmitt-automotive.blogspot.com/2011/12/orange-ice-metallic-cts-coupe.html )

It’s very....late 2000 's Truckin’ magazine style, which isn’t really to my tastes normally, but then I did grow up eye drooling over those very trucks around that exact time so it really speaks to high school me. Plus it looks like it’s built well too which helps, and with what $40,000 buys in diesel trucks these days, if this is what you’re into that’s not a bad deal. Shame it’s 2wd though.

Most “mini” semi trucks are usually some sort of pickup turned into a mini semi. Nah, this thing actually has a CAT engine, air brakes, the works. It’s literally a 3/4 scale semi.

Out of 255 results, I saw a lot of stuff that just shouldn’t have been considered “custom”. I also saw several classic hot rods that were arguably pretty cool. But the local winner for “most likely to be interesting to those on Oppo” is this one. Needs a lot of work, but I think it would make a pretty fun project.

I’ve always been into cars, but I REALLY got into cars when my parents took me to a few classic car shows as a kid. I found all the hot rods, muscle cars, and custom vehicles there fascinating, and definitely much more interesting than the usual stuff I saw driving around. Since then, my tastes have broadened quite a bit, but I still love all the hot rods and stuff. It’s what inspired me to buy a ‘66 Thunderbird as my first car, which I still love and drive whenever possible. They may not be to everyone’s taste, but I will always have a soft spot for them.

I definitely get what you're saying but sometimes the look of some cars just gets old.
![]() 12/06/2019 at 17:02 |

I suppose it’s entirely subjective. Hot rods aren’t really that different from tuner cars, they’re just from a different time period. And I like the look of classic cars more than I like the look of tuner cars, so I like hot rods (though I still appreciate tuner cars). I think i t also depends on some of the mods. I’ve seen plenty of hot rods and muscle cars with the kinds of big bling rims and other mods that were popular in the ‘90s and early 2000s, and those do not age well. They look dated as heck. They’re antique cars, and trying to make them look modern just makes them look kinda tacky, but nevertheless those mods continue to be popular because reasons.

You were one of the folks that I thought would like that one. I’d be interested if it were cheap enough to be treated as a beater “truck”.

For that price I’d need it to be a mint, tuned TDI, with a perfect Golf R interior or TT baseball stitched interior swap.
I know it has at least 4,500 in the pickup kit, paint, and wheels, not including labor, but it’s a 2,000 dollar car before all that work.

I’m also a bit concerned that he managed to add 21 photos that are actually decent quality for Craigslist, but there isn’t a single interior picture.

I really agree with your opinion here. The mods to the car are the biggest issue with this example. Well put.
