Went diving yesterday (on the company dime even) at the place I certified 14 years ago. It was a fun distraction and reminder of why I like diving. Too bad I live in the desert I suppose.
It was 25 degrees outside with snow, inside it was 95 degrees.
60 feet deep, maybe 30 feet diameter.
(not my pic)
Fun fact I just found out: The scene in 127 hours that everyone loves?
besides the arm chopping scene that is . Anyway, I don’t know where the slot canyon part is...but the pool they drop into is the homestead crater.
Where the first part is supposed to be
Where the pool actually is

This looks like the kind of place you’d expect to be replicated in a video game and have some sort of wizard or rare merchant residing in it.

I did get the blue gem, but without the gauntlet it’ s not really worth much.

Looks like you need to finish up that sidequest chain, then.

You should go to Florida and try the 40 Fathoms Grotto. It’s gorgeous, has lots of fun things sunk in it to explore! I rode a motorcycle, sat in a plane, and watch them prep a fire truck to drop to the bottom.

Would love to, but Im rarely in florida and would be even rarer to be there with a group that would allow to sneak off and dive.

I still haven’t been there. I’ve played the golf course right next to it but have never been in the crater itself

Its kind of a rip off, I only go it someone else is paying. Neat, but not $34 a hour to soak neat.

Neat! I’ve always wanted to dive a cave!

Technically not a cave, just a “crater” (caldera). Im not cave certified.

I figured as much. It’s close enough to get the cave feel without the cave danger. I looked it up and it’s fairly deep! My advanced dive was in a lake the fall. The surface temp was fine, but the water was in the 5 0s at 85 feet. That was the day I discovered my wetsuit didn’t fit well and experienced the exhilarating sensation of ice cold water down my back.
Good times.

yeah, my computer said 97 F at 55 feet. Lovely diving weather. If no one has been in there churning it up, its clear as a bell and awesome. If they have...yeah, its like cave diving. 3 feet of vis.

I’ve done it once as part of a cavern course. The cavern we were in had an easily accessible pocket that was technically a cave and the instructor gave folks the option of ducking into the cave for a few minutes to look around. It was super cool and that is one of my most favorite dives I ever did.
