!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! some leaked pics of the upcoming Genesis GV80 crossover from the factory. It looks exactly how the renders said it would. Sharing design language with the G70 and new G90 it has a large grill up front.
Inside it has a big 2 spoke wheel and what looks to be a half screen spedo.
The center console looks to come with either a rotary shiftier or push buttons that you cant seen. Its overall handsome and looks similar to the Palisade. The GV80 is expected to compete with the GLE, X5 & Q7. Im curious if this thing is riding on the same platform as the Telluride/Palisade or will it be a dedicated platform specifically for Genesis. It cant come soon enough because a crossover will be a welcome addition to the Genesis lineup.

I don’t hate it, seems a little Escalade-esque with a dash of GLK . However a white steering wheel seems like a terrible idea.

I like that interior. And the headlights.

They need to make these things tow. That's my biggest complaint, so hopefully this will have a 6.5k+ limit.

Right. It will be dingy in no time.

Yea the headlights are unique. One unit but separate at the same time.

Yea. The Telluride/Palisade only have 5k. If this has the same engine options It might not change. It would be nice if they gave this thing a V8 but I dont see that happening . I’d be surprised as hell if it did.

need to see one in the metal first, but i like the steering wheel

I don’t think this thing is related to the Telluride and Palisade. That would be foolish, especially if they’re chasing the X5 and GLE and not even the X3 and GLC. I’m guessing it’s either a new or rehashed RWD based Genesis platform and it should at the very least see the corporate twin turbo 3.3 (not the Telluride’s NA mill).

I think you’re probably right. Also a dedicated platform along with being rwd would help the luxury image as well. This also means we could possibly see a V8 model.

Yechh. Another enormous, hideous, and mostly useless grille to please Chinese buyers.

It’s hard to tell in those photos, but it sure does look a whole lot bigger than the X5/Q7 segment (what do we call that? Mid-full-sized?). I’d be surprised if it came with RWD (maybe in the basest-model, but I bet the take rate would be small. Finding a X5 s-drive is unobtanium unless you live in Florida or the west ), but may have RWD-based-AWD. And to think, people complained that BMW’s new grille was too large.

That grill needs to be 2/3 the size it currently is. Other than that I think it looks pretty good.

I think part of the reason it looks big is the giant grille. See also: the new G90.

That center console knob looks very much like an infotainment controller to me.
The current Genesis sedans all have a relatively similar controller and a monostable shifter, but with the shifter closer to the dash.
G70:
G80:
G90:
I suppose on the GV80
there could still be a similar monostable shifter aft of the infotainment knob but it’d kinda get in the way of reaching for the knob. So you could be right with your less-traditional-than-a-monostable shifter idea.

That steering wheel looks great. Although I can’t imagine it staying that way for long. Driving gloves should be mandatory with this vehicle .

I think you’re right. It’s huge though. But from what I remember from driving the G70, that knob controls drive modes. I wouldn’t be surprised though if the GV80 got a push button transmission like the new Sonata.

Whoops, I got mixed up on the G70, you’re right, the knob is for drive modes not infotainment, which is touchscreen-only.
The G80 and G90 the knob is infotainment and they each have a drive mode button next to the shifter.
That new Sonata push button shifter is certainly...something.
Interestingly enough, the Telluride has a plain old regular shifter and a drive mode knob, while the Palisade has what might be the exact same push button shifter as the Sonata, plus an infot ai nme nt knob. The shifter isn’t mounted on that big plastic wart like the Sonata though.
If I were to guess, the GV80 probably has something similar to the Palisade setup, but oriented differently.

I like the steering wheel, but not in that light tan. That’s why they make steering wheel covers. Fuzzy pink will be the #1 choice :P

I thought it was weird that they dedicated a whole knob just to drive modes. Even my Sonata makes due with a simple small button.
I’d say that for luxury purposes, this thing will probably have a push button trans. Plus that frees up space for more small storage.

Thats sharp. They’re really stepping up again and again...
