The FIA is desperate for OEMs to the point that they’re willing to remove the minor threat of privateers ruining their party. But it’s also kind of an about face on the whole split regulation of LMP1’s competing against “production” Hypercars. Just as WEC having the current success handicap that applies to all races except for the only one that matters, Le Mans.
