Oops.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Mazda is likely to discontinue to 6 in North America, too, so I’ll likely end up with an orphaned car either way.
My experience with the TourX is that dealerships simply don’t know how to sell it and GM doesn’t know how to market it. And, their dealers are all pushy and rude and don’t know how to work with a customer that is really interested. At least , all the ones I tried were.

Yes, it’s all your fault. It has nothing to do with GM’s monumental incompetence when it comes to selling anything that isn’t a truck or an SUV.

A GM fan

Orphaned cars are not too bad. The Fiesta ST and Golf Sportwagen are both orphans. It just means you have taste.

Doesn’t seem like a terrible deal.

Not surprised, it was only a mater of time after PSA bought Opel.

Great time to buy if ya want one. I bought the Alltrack a week after they announced that it would be discontinued and got a great deal.

It should have been a Chevy, made slightly more rugged looking, undercut Outbacks by a few thousand and advertised in a similar fashion.

The only Cadillac I had experience buying was my grandmother’s 2012 SRX, but it was the same story there even though the SRX was used.

Hey now!!
GM is perfectly capable of monumental incompetence when it comes to trucks and SUVs too!!

oh, get off it. They seem perfectly capable of shifting 100-150k Malibus and 80-100k Impalas every year. This, however:
for a car they import from Germany? That’s been a money-loser from day 1. I’d wager the only reason they bothered at all with the Regal/TourX is some contractual obligation with Opel/PSA.
those kinds of low volumes aren’t “lack of marketing” or not knowing how to sell it. That right there is just utter lack of demand. Buick is stuck in an “in betweener” problem. there’s not anything you can get on a Buick that you can’t find in a Chevy store for less money, and if you want something higher end Cadillac is there. The only reason Buick hasn’t gone the way of Oldsmobile is China. If they shuttered Buick in the US the brand would lose its prestige in China.

[pedant]
An orphaned car is one where the manufacturer no longer exists, like a Saab. Buick still exists, so the TourX is merely “discontinued.”

False sir, they sell lots of trucks and truck resembling substances.

They certainly are, see the new “Blazer” . They are at least able to sell those things.

Aren’t they lagging behind Ford and Ram in truck sales?
Also I went through monumental hassle and the same issues OP described trying to buy a Terrain Denali last year. Part of that burden is on the individual dealers, but some it also falls squarely on GM.

Yeah, you’re right. There is absolutely no demand for a slightly lifted wagon.
I would be inclined to agree with you about Buick as a whole, if they didn’t sell so many Encores and ... whatever the hell they call the Buick Traverse ... ENCLAVE! Yeah, that’s it. I see a shitload of those two running around.

The Silverado is lagging behind Ram, but if you combine the Silverado and Sierra, they’re ahead of Ram.
I completely agree about the dealers. My favorite local GMC/Buick dealer was recently bought out by a dealer group that I had such a bad experience with, I shall never set foot on one of their lots again. I was PISSED.

I’ve had interesting experiences with both dealer groups and independent shops. I bought my Cobalt and Cruze from a large dealer group and couldn’t have been happier. Several of their competing dealer groups are absolute garbage. One played a bait and switch game with me and another plays stupid pricing games.
When we went to buy the Terrain last year we talked to a few local GMC dealers (group and independent ) and they were all just sleazy. Ended up going to a dealer 4 hours away who I know and trust.

Yeah. I’ve had great experiences and terrible experiences at dealers. The dealer group that bought my formerly favorite local dealer, is the one where I had probably the worst car shopping experience of my life.

I once asked a Jeep salesman whether or not the Renegade we were looking at was 4x4. He didn’t know and couldn’t figure it out despite it having a 4x4 badge on the fender....
