Because the show, in all its iterations including the Amazon Top Gear with a different name, kinda suck. They all depend on contrived “funny” situations where the hosts play a fictional version of themselves. The car opinions are driven by character and story choices and cannot be trusted. The situations are hokey AF. I hope my favorite YouTubers just keep doing the same stuff which is more authentic.
Chris Harris is a lot better on his own. Matt Farah’s low rent One Take’s are fantastic—much better than the stuff he did for Drive which was Top Gearish.
For what it’s worth I like Jethro. I just think the show is going to be worse than what he’s done on elsewhere.

Which reminds me I’m still bitter about the latest Ghostbusters movie. It all goes to prove you can suck the life out of the best of them with poor writing and direction.

Gene Siskel, a movie critic, had a simple test for a movie: it should be better than than just watching the actors have lunch . Lunch with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones would be a riot.

It was alright. If I rec
all, t
hey fucked with the format the entire season, lost a cast member, shortened it by 30 minutes, then eventually cancelled it.

I just had this discussion with a coworker, with the same “I like Jethro, but... ” conclusion. He’s better than this will probably be. I wish them luck nonetheless, and I hope they find some chemistry, to whatever extent the script allows .

I’ve heard Dax on the Smoking Tire podcast. He knows cars. Cool guy. I’d rather watch him and Jethro just drive a variety of cool cars and talk about them than whatever this is going to be. I don’t know the third host.

That movie would’ve been better as a sequel than a reboot. I don’t remember it well though. I was watching with a friend and we decided drinking more than we should would be a better idea than paying attention.

Oh no, I remember that. I’d forgotten about it for a while, but it certainly explains some of the frustrations he’s said about car TV being formulaic and bad, that’s for sure.

That’s a good rule. ( Never saw the reboot, FWIW, but I also just don’t bother with most movies.)

The Stef Schrader of the Puffalumps and Porsches has bothered to read something I’ve written and said something nice?!? Thank you.
