The rental company could not guarantee me a particular car. Could be a Mustang, a Camaro, or a Charger. In the spirit of Reno, lay your bets.

I say Charger

I believe all rental cars are Nissan Alitmas, but if I have to choose between those three, I say Charger.

Kia Optima. Because there is some statistic (say, interior volume) that makes it “Dodge Charger or similar ”
The last time I had a Charger booked, they ran out and “upgraded” me to an SUV....a first -gen Ford Escape 4-cylinder, which was one of the worst cars I’ve ever driven. Thankfully it was just a modest 20-hour round trip. I didn’t miss torque at all!

I’m going to go left field and say either passat or arteon. Because somehow, VW finds a way.

I say a Sona ta.
But, if we have to pick of those three, I say the Mustang

As your attorney, you should advise you to rent a very fast car with no top.

I wanted to rent a subcompact in England, and they were all “Herp derp don’t have any free upgrade to compact fnerp”. Thanks for nothing, assholes. I didn’t need or want the extra width, and would I have had more fun in a Citroen than that execrable Corsa? Signs point to yes.

It will be a charger I bet. Rental places love them. They're cheap and they have flexible capability (seating for 4 and bug trunk).
![]() 12/03/2019 at 09:34 |

That would make sense since the Charger is the most Altima of the three.

Plot Twist, you’ll get there and decide to rent a bike. And that bike shall be a Ural.

I didn’t really mind the Corsa (way back in 2004) ...in comparison with the land yachts we drive over here, it was like a damned go-kart. I’d be terrified in the US, though.
I wrote about it in 2010 here :

I got a Silverado (yay, Texas).

The Corsa I had was brand new! So it was ten years newer than the one you had. The things that annoyed me included such things as a wide track width and long wheelbase (hello, curbing! kurbing?), abominably low-profile tires, a weirdly spaced and awkward-shifting gearbox, an “unglued”/lightly-loaded rear beam axle that liked to skate, weird engine response, and that the clutch pedal was in a small hole next to the steering shaft, in such a way that I tended to have my large ‘Merican foot pressing against the steering shaft, which in turn meant that steering tried to shove my foot off the pedal.
In two words, “no thanks”.

Just keep an eye out for the bats and lay off the ether. There’s nothing more depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge.
(Sorry if double reply, Kinja possibly ate my previous reply, or maybe just routed it through purgatory for a while.)

I’m no good at betting, so I’m going in on a Nissan Altima bet, cuz rental car.

I got of these when I rented a luxury car, Infinti Q50 or “similar. ” It was a depressing car to drive with some of the most uncomfortable seats, ever. Worse than the Frontier I rented.

Speaking as a former rental rep, I foresee this happening...
“Okay, it seems like we’re out of the car class you reserved, so I’m going to give you a free upgrade to a Chrysler Pacifica.”

I’ve got a 90's S-10 as a l oaner from the glass shop puting a new windshield on the F-150. It has a knock and suspiciously low oil pressure. I hope it makes it back across town this afternoon.
Dying engine aside, these are as bad as I remember them to be. Slightly better than the old ranger, but with my 90's GM plastic. I don’t know why people lust after little trucks from this time.

They ran out of the fun cars you mentioned , and since those have 6 cylinder engines they are going to offer you the V6 Tacoma they have because its the same.

I believe the real question is what color Nissan will you be driving. I’m sure the rental agency would consider a “four door sports car” equivalent to a muscle car.
