Apparently it’s gonna be made in Cuautitlan, just north of Mexico City.. It would make it,in my book, the first mass market EV made in Mexico.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
If you think assembling a Mustang outside of the United States is sacrilegious, Ford used to assemble the Mexican market Mustang Fox Body in the same place. Possibly even the same factory, so it has some heritage.
People that read too much into it, don’t worry, you can still purchase a fully American Tesla Model Y, assembled in California.
The reason why I mention it’s mass market, is because a Mexican company called Zacua made an EV a couple of years ago... but it’s more of a kit car than anything else

I don’t think there’s anything more American than targeting jingoists with products assembled somewhere else.

“you can still purchase a fully American Tesla Model Y, assembled in California.”
And that’s one funny thing about the Anti-Tesla or anti-”
foreign car”
crowd.
Some of them seem to think that Tesla is some foreign car when in fact it’s arguably more American than GM and Ford.
And don’t get me started on “Buy American” types who drive Jeeps, Dodges or Rams. Those products are now about as American as the stuff
Toyota sells
.
And it’s even more insane in Canada where some people here consider Ford, GM and FCA stuff to be “Domestic” when it reality, they’re all foreign companies from the technically Canadian perspective.
It’s only a question of whether the foreign auto company assembles vehicles in Canada or not.
