So, my neighbor has a 2010ish
Jeep, and my kiddo has a 2016 VW Jetta. They park next to each other since we live in condos. My neighbor had some sort of battery issues Thursday to where she had trouble getting it s
tarted etc and when she did she was driving it around trying to charge it but I don’t know the details
. Well, today my kiddo’s car battery is doing weird stuff to where she could turn on the radio and lights but couldn’t start the car until she got a jump - not exactly the dead battery kind of behavior but jumping it worked
. Of the many complaints it
stated her car couldn’t find the key (it’s a key fob
) but worked after jumping.
So we had a TON of rain unusual for our area. Is that possibly the cause, is this just coincidence or is something nefarious
going on??

Jeep battery might just be on its way out, same with the VW. ~ 4-5 year life on them.
Rain has nothing to do with it

most likely the rain got inside the blinker fluid compartment and now the jeep is likely totaled.

I was sort of thinking the same thing but didn’t want to mention.

Does it crank and not start or not crank at all?

With battery problems , first grab and twist the battery clamps and see if improved connection helps. Then see if alternator belt is loose. If that does not fix it I am out of suggestions.....

It n is possible rain or high humidity can cause issues if your ignition wires are old and starting to fray. But how old is the battery?

Both cars exist essentially in the same weather conditions. Hot summers kill batteries and they don’t die until it gets cold.

Carport? Perhaps a rodent problem?
