Yeah, when I get my Miata I’m going to be one of those statistics, I know it. But speeding doesn’t necessarily equate to recklessness despite what this article infers . When it comes to bad driving habits, I would look more towards Range Rover, WRX or Prius drivers, for different reasons. In the meantime I’ll be zipping around in my Mazda5 6MT, speeding nearly everywhere I go, flying under the radar since minivans are nearly ticket repellent.

Best driving of my life was last winter. Better than autox. Better than track days. Better than forest service roads. Just driving around an empty city in a Miata on winter tires with the top down. Work was canceled for two weeks and I was on salary. I stayed out driving all night long, and met plenty of other like-minded individuals. Soooooo good ....

Most likely to be ticketed for reckless does not mean most reckless, and that also explains why the Miata is on there, they stand out and whoever is driving is likely out for fun.

Between the Rodeo, the L200 and the pre-1999 Chevy trucks.... They’re all extremely cheap
cars on their 5th owner that are barely functioning at this point. Start with poor life choices, end up recklessly driving a shitbox. Makes sense.

I would say that STI drivers and FoST drivers are the most aggressive around Chicago. It’s rare to see a Miata getting aggressive— too risky given all the truck drivers and brain dead texters.
