This is a photo my aunt found of my grandpa and his mom. At my Grandfather’s funeral his life was recounted by the cars he owned. Must run in the family.

Good eyes. It’s a 1949 Chieftain.

I’m not sure Wyoming did the same thing with county numbers as Montana.

Could it be the 45,364th plate issued in the state? Seems high for the era, but maybe I’m underestimating the population of the time. It’s still pretty low.

That is a really cool picture.   Seems like an adventure doesn't it?

My favorite car of that era is still the Studebaker Starlight Coupe (bulletnose) but the Chieftain was a bad ass automobile.

I don’t have a copy, but somewhere there’s a photo of my grandparents next to their Nash. Convertible I think. My family’s love for convertibles May be much older than I am.

Sweetwater County.  County seat’s down in Green River... and that’s LOONG before I-80 got routed through there.  Musta been quite a trip on two lane roads up from the “Lincoln Highway” designated “US30" through Green River and Rock Springs.
