I thought it was... ok? I don’t really have a fully-formed opinion of it yet. But it felt largely meandering, somewhat aimless. Some of the racing was pretty well-done. But WAY too many drivers-looking-at-other-drivers shots.
Thought Matt Damon did a pretty good Shelby. Don’t know much about Ken Miles, but I’m sure Christian Bale did his homework.
Overall: I dunno? /shrugs

I thought it was a decent movie. It had enough of the essence of racing while allowing the average joe to follow along easily. The last 10 min or so was tough because I knew what was coming but didn't know if they would actually film it or just have a still frame with some text.

The movie had a very narrow scope and honestly could have been called “Carrol Shelby and Ken Miles vs Leo Beebe” but it had gratuitous GT40 action and I can’t hate anything with gratuitous GT40 action.

I always love a good Goliath versus David story where David gets crushed, so I’m all in. I guess David was sort of an arrogant, bankrupt jerk with a furrin’ accent so he had it coming.

I agree with the eye contact while racing bits. I think they put that in for a Hollywood effect. If you put that aside, as well as a few other gripes enthusiasts can point out, it’s a well done flick. Nobody knows a lot about Ken Miles. He kept to himself when around, and even his son helped helpe d out a bit by sharing what he can recall (at least that’s what Bale said in an interview).
