Post things from 1966, or airplanes, or car, or rutabagas, or whatever you want.

Happy Birthday. My parents used to have two mustangs, one hard top, one convertible. The convertible was red over black. I’m just not sure if it was the ‘65 or ‘66. Let’s go with ‘66.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy some a ircraft from 1966 :
On today’s date in 1966, Gemini 12 splashed down, bringing the program to a close.

This song was sitting at #1 today in ‘66.

1966 Ranger II concept.
by Syd Mead.
I did not know this existed until now, but I did the logical thing and searched for “1966 concept” to find things to post
and ba-DOW.

IM’s choice is more of what I would have been listening to in 1966. And in 2019.

I’m assuming your dad’s my age? Neat. Awesome choice. Thanks!

Where is the future we were promised? I’m still waiting, especially for my flying car.
Thanks!

I’m sure London can show you some much less picturesque stuff, too. I love these old videos, though. Thanks!

How did you know chocolate was my favorite??
Thanks, $kay. I’ll make sure you get a piece.

Yeah, I saw that the other day. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be’ bankruptcy’ and reorg or the more final ‘fire everyone and chain the doors’. Looks like it was the latter.

Happy birthday, here is a plane that we will soon have a lot of nos talgi a for when it’s gone, yes I have flown on this e xact plane. These are all being replaced by Embraer 175's by Alaska/Horizon .

Yeah, the Chinese company that owns it is making noise about reopening it at a later date, but I’m not holding my breath.

We don’t get many big turboprops in this neck of the woods, though I did see a Dash 8 overhead last weekend . This Saab is the closest thing I’ve ever photographed at AUS.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy the gorgeous 1966 Porsche 906 which will be delivered shortly by this lovely lady as soon as she fastens her helmet in place.

Ive been on a British Pathe rabbit hole lately so when you said 66 it was the first thing that popped in my head.
Enjoy your day!

Thanks! There’s a lot more going on in the background of that photo, too. That looks like every car other than the Mach 5 in the original Speed Racer. Love it!

My buddy started his commercial carrier flying SAAB’s for now defunct Mesaba out of MSP . I flew on one from Detroit to Toledo many years ago .

The extent of my turboprop experience is one flight in the Midwest many years ago on an ATR.

This is the advantage of flying out of a small airport , you get to ride on all of the really old and small planes. Like the MD-80's/90's CRJ’s and the Dash-8's.

Happy Birthday!
Kinja is being Kinja, so you’ll just have to imagine the red 1966 Saab Sonett II that should be appearing here, but isn’t, because Kinja.

As far as smaller commuters go, I’ve also photographed this Fairchild Dornier 328 a couple of times. Beautiful plane.

1966 also happens to be the birthyear of the Miranda rights.

On a more Oppo style note, here are cars you share a birthyear with

Everything I know about Miranda I learned by watching Dragnet.
Thanks! I’ll check out that list later. Gotta go stamp out ignorance (teach a trumpet lesson).

I can see you driving it, too, with your arm on the window sill.
In that mind’s eye though, you’re just borrowing it from me. ;)

When I was younger, I never understood why Julie Newmar made me feel funny.

Wow! That’s an honest-to-goodness Zero. I’ve only seen (and photographed) replicas based on the T-6 Texan, like this one.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Agreed. I was looking over the rest of the 1966 list and there were SO MANY amazing songs. This one is just so-so.
