I’m hanging out at the dealership waiting for an oil change + tire swap and wondering what era it was built that they thought to put a full on diner counter in the service waiting room? It’s very dead now but at least the vending machine coffee is free.
Also saw the GM of the dealership Greg Carrasco shoot an Insta ad bit about how they’ll fit in other lux brand customers for winter tire changes. He’s mildly radio famous around here from always voicing the ads for whatever dealership he’s running (I feel like he’s on to number 3 since I’ve lived here)
I’m probably in the background looking unimpressed that my it’s 30 minutes into my appointment slot and my car’s still where I parked it.

if you stepped out of a time machine at a Nissan dealer, it would be impossible tell what year it was.

Or 2017, the lineup would be identical!

If a dealership had a diner counter that’d make me an egg sammy while I waited I’d get all my maintenance done there.

From the looks of it, maybe somewhere between 1998-2005 or thereabouts.

Current conditions are optimal for sno-nuts...
But given the terminal understeer I’ve experienced on rental Altimas I’d probably end up like this poor Micra...

I vaguely recall in store restaurants being a thing when I was a kid in the early 90s. Our local Texas Homecare (in England... I guess
before Texas became synonymous with guns and shiplap) had one that I remember having
an ok milkshake and terrible cookie.

The nissan kicks is possibly the saddest nissan I’ve ever seen.

The Mercedes dealer in my old hometown only added one about 13 years ago, then got rid of it just 5 years later when Daimler North America mandated all dealerships to follow the same design format, which didn't include restaurants.

You’d have time for a full 5 course banquet the rate this is going....
My tire shop actually
tried
that for a while: bought the property next door, turned it into a breakfast/diner spot
and sent all their while-
you-
wait customers there. Didn’t work out though and now it’s a taco joint.

A taco is an even better idea.

Yeah. About 10 years ago the MINI dealer had a burger place inside. People said it had good food, but I never wanted to chance it. There also was an indoor gun range that set up a deli inside, also from about the same time . I guess it was a thing.

The gun range makes sense as it’s a destination people do an activity at, sorta like pizza at a bowling alley...
Given
the reliability of minis back then their owners were probably hanging out there a bunch too.
