I wish we still got the 3-door golf in the US. There was a time around 2005ish that I considered buying a new, 3-door GTI. I’d consider the current GTI/R an even more attractive proposition to own if they didn’t have extra doors I don’t need.

You can find some 2015 and 2016 Mk7 GTIs in the US as 3 doors. If I recall correctly, it was late 2016 that they stopped offering the 3 door.

I’m still a little miffed they killed off the Scirocco.
Scirocco, low-bois Golf 3 door.
Golf 3 door, tall-bois Golf 3 door.

Would be hard to choose between the Golf and Leon. Not a big fan of the four eyed look they gave the facelifted Octavia.
We never got Atlantic Blue as a color option in the US on the Golf, here they stuck with Night Blue, which is still very nice but a bit darker and doesn’t seem to pop quite as much - it’s what I’ve got on my car.

VAG accidentally leaked the new Octavia on it’s website.
The new Octavia will look much more like it’s larger sister the Superb.
Much better looking that the quad eyes,
Though not too sure exactly on the new Skoda fashion of shallow headlights at the grille edge, getting taller as they come out.
Good on the Superb as it’s not so pronounced.
But on the Fabia and Scala, urm, not sure.
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2020-skoda-octavia-sketches-show-interior-design
The preview comes following the recent accidental unveiling of the Octavia’s front end design, where an official image was posted to Skoda’s website.
Shared to a German Skoda forum, the press shot is said to have been taken from the brand’s own configurator before being removed. As expected, we can see the new model takes heavily influence from the larger Skoda Superb , alongside the recently introduced Scala .
Blue does look great. I wanted red this time round after having a blue one, but fate stepped in (time constraints and impatience) and made it beige metallic or what Skoda call Champagne m etallic.

They just renamed the former Golf Plus. Nobody knows what its for between the Touran and the Tig uan which are also slightly higher roofline Golfs. I still seldomly see them around, so it’s not a success but some people actually buy into that very tight ni che.

I would buy into the ‘sportsvan’ thing if it was a van, but like you say, it’s a raised Golf.
As a van it would come in under the Caddy, like the Ford Courier is to the Connect.
