but if they are really killing oppo I think it’ s safe to say Jalopnik won’ t be far behind.

Having oppo is the only reason I’m checking Jalopnik these days, and I know Im not alone. I’ m not saying all their users will dry up, but I am saying they are going to see a hit with this move and I know Jalopnik isn’t their biggest site as is. I hope everyone there is freshening up their resumes...this won’ t be a carnage free move.

Agreed. The sub-blogs (not personal blogs) are 90% of the “stickiness” for most of the users. I’m still unclear on whether Oppo is considered a personal blog for their purposes.

Previously on Kinja I mostly read Deaspin, J alopnik, Splinter, and Oppo. I can already feel that killing off three of those four makes visits to last less likely. I feel bad about it, since obviously the Jalopnik staff doesn’t support these bad decisions, but the G/O Media readership seems to be trying really hard to get people to not visit their sites.

So, what’s the plan for Overland if the worst happens ? I know we’ve had plans in the past but Google+ is also gone. Do we find a W ordpress page to setup or maybe let it die gracefully?

Thats where oppo would go and I assume we could post overland content.  There are a LOT of steps between here and there though.

True, I was thinking something like Overland.opposite.com. Maybe staying close to Oppo would be a good thing instead of just a stand alone site.
