For your Thursday morning enjoyment, we have a Davis Divan and a Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star (or P-80 if you prefer).

And here’s a Davis Divan being loaded into what looks like a DC-6 or DC-7.

And here are four gentlemen pretending to be comfortable sitting four-across in their Davis Divan. Which explains why it’s called a Divan. My grandmother called her sofa a divan.

I’ve seen the one at the Lane. Can’t say I had a measuring tape at the time, but going off the Wikipedia listed width of 72" and doing a pixel count, the interior shoulder width is about 54 1/4". Which isn’t terrible. In comparison, the front *and rear* shoulder width in a ‘58-’60 Lincoln, one of the widest cabins in a sedan ever, is 63"+. One of those, you *could* almost get four men in comfortably.

Judging by the pictures you have posted, it is mandatory to drive said Divan with one’s arm in various positions out of the window.

I think it has more to do with there being so little room for the outside arm. Note that both the window seat guys have their arm out the window. I hope it doesn’t rain.
