this winter has been pretty unusual for my area. I think we’ve have only 2 storms with any sort of accumulation and one of those was back in October . I’m a little south of Boston. Usuall y we’ve have like 10 storms by now.

It’s a few degrees chillier here, but less damp than the trend has been for weeks. By “damp” I mean I’ve been having to scrape the windshield once and before I’m finished heading down our long driveway it’s re-iced with kind of a micro-layer.
Given our driveway points east and tilts up about 20 degrees approaching the road, this is a problem.
“OH, I’m blind. I’m blind.

People up north act like the ice that happens really quick down here isn’t a problem.

That’s actually amazing. I think Gibbs and Cotton both need one.

Sidenote: 350/370 Zs should be nice convertibles, but they do not look good.

Yeah, Icy Surprise on twisty mountain rural roads is not a good thing any more than Frozen Car Syndrome is.

This is why a husky greyhound is a good mix, you get the mellow of a grey hound with the winter protection of a husky, and you end up with a large lazy dog that sleeps in snow banks and chases deer all day.

I will give the Kia credit for killing while the Dodge in front of me skidded around. A lot of times it’s not the snow that’s the problem, but the warm gelatinous mass that can’t think if someone paid them too.

The most hopeless car I know of in the snow, more or less, is the W124 diesel benz. Heavy, minimal ground clearance, too old for any kind of TCS, ABS that doesn’t actually A in icy conditions, and RWD without enough weight on the rear axle to hold and maintain grip. Also, ackerman geometry that favors higher speed, so the rear wheels always find new ice. Oh, and a default first gear that’s too high to creep and too low to keep from spinning when it locks up because the engine doesn’t have enough torque to push through at low speeds
. Nothing, nothing, nothing... WHOOSH.
I have been stuck with it more times than any other vehicle. And yet, assuming no meathead gets in my way and I’m allowed to maintain speed, it’s possible to be out in horrible conditions.
