Looked at this exact car as well - likely going to the ‘19 outback for myself (huge discounts). Volvo’s replacement costs and long term upkeep were a complete turn off as well . This is all after looking at the high cost low option factor and deep depreciation curve.

Special order only right? I do not see any discounts being offered on this thing. I wager you’ll have better deals on the Crosscountry versions that the dealers actually plan to stock

Just spent a few days in the sedan version this past weekend. The electronics leave much to be desired.

Even if you’re cool with having basically everything in a touchscreen, it’s pretty buggy. I started the car up one time, and before I was even able to get moving, the infotainment screen rebooted itself three times in a row, and then the gas readout dropped instantly by about an eighth of a tank...

I find the engine a letdown, too. It’s exactly as thirsty as the I6 it’s meant to replace, but sounds worse and has surgy power delivery with a transmission that’s way too eager to upshift. W a y t o o m u c h c o m p r o m i s e f o r t h e p r i c e y o u p a y .

All of this is a shame, as cosmetically (both inside and out), these things are pretty much perfect.

I like volvos but using my co-worker as a source be prepared to spend bmw prices on everything. “I can fix this myself” goes to autozone/advance/OR , “ do you have ____” “nope” “why” “because volvo”

I test drove this car and the ‘18 XC60; they are both the comfiest cars I’ve ever driven in. I honestly want won so bad, but with a growing family the long term costs scares the shit out me.

I went and drove the ‘19 O utback touring today. The cabin is incredibly quiet. Two downsides with the 3.6r that I noticed; the fuel economy is not terrible, but not great and the seats are pretty narrow. I’m not large at all (5'8 on a good day) and it felt snug. I’m sure broken in they a re comfier, but riding in the XC a week before ruined me. There is a little bit of a price premium on the subaru, but I’m almost ready to pull the trigger.

Oh the seats are devine. If I was better off I would pick it over a higher 5/E/a6. I bet it could soak up miles nicely.

If those are your comparators - I would 100% do this car over them. They’ll be expensive for sure, but way cheaper than a german auto repair! Good luck hunting!
