So it is basically a glider right?  I say, tow it up and cut it loose!

Hmm, I would have assumed the new engine option would have engines. I’m also surprised anybody wants these compared to A350/787/777X. Looking at wikipedia though :

In March 2014, Delta Air Lines expressed an interest in the A330neo to replace its ageing, 20+ year old Boeing 767-300ER jets. [11] In the 250-300-seat market, CIT Group believes an A330neo enables profitability on shorter ranges where the longer-range A350 and Boeing 787 aren’t optimized. Steve Mason, CIT vice president for aircraft analysis, said “The A350-800 is not as efficient as they’d like”. Steven Udvar-Hazy, chairman and CEO of Air Lease Corp., said, “We don’t believe it is rational for us to take the A350-800 and the A330neo [...] I don’t see the A350-800 surviving if they do the A330neo”

The secret is the new engine is just a small yellow box. Alien tech. Don’t tell anyone.

We are looking forward to the new toys. The 767 is a marvelous aircraft, but they are aging.

I've heard many people disappointed to fly on 767's more often than on other planes.  The 767 wasn't one of Boeing's better products.

The A350-800 was cancelled, leaving only the -900 and -1000. A330 Neo is the A350-800. Like they said, the A350 is bigger and better optimised for longer distance, so not really a A330 competitor and the Boeing planes weren’t a solution, as Delta has an affinity for Airbus wide bodies to differentiate itself from United and American who use Boeing widebodies. That could change, as Delta is rumored to order up to 150 79 7s, just to be the launch customer.

It’s really about how you configure the interiors. Most of the  flying public don’t know or care about the plane as long as it has a nice interior.
