Oh boy. Now I get to post more photos on that off-topic car blog site.
My thoughts on this home: it’s... another bigly Eastside home? Also sure to meet fintail’s sparkling glowing approval.

That’s...a lot of wood. Makes me feel a certain kind of way.

Why so many different materials on the outside?

That fiberglass makes me feel all w arm and fuzzy .

Hey, I'm not the designer. Though I don't think I'd be terrible...

Seems a little...haphazard.

No it's definitely a full house. Or two haphs, if you prefer.

It is just a little busy

The exterior rendering of that house is trying too hard to architecture.
There,
I’ve commented on the Zoiberg post for the day.

Modern, but with none of what is admired about a good modern period design.
Such fine quality materials.
I like how it kind of resembles a credit union or medical office in a strip mall. For hardworking professionals who like their job so much, home looks like work.

I enjoy perusing these photos.

Bench in the shower is a hard no, takes up space unnecessarily. Be tter off installing a folding teak seat.

Very phunny.

That’s definitely not one of mine. There’s no burn marks anywhere

I’m no expert you understand, but I think that’s a bunch of framing lumber and sheathing . I could be wrong.

I was thinking it is trying to hard to architecture. It’s a box with some pin on accessories
.

Where do the contractors go to the bathroom if there is no bath tub?

You can say it, ugly. It is just a little ugly.
![]() 09/26/2018 at 19:24 |

I don’t think it is inherently ugly. I like the design, just not 6 different sidings and like 7 different yet far too similar colors.

What R value insulation do you guys use over there.
I used 1 inch exterior foam sheathing, r20 fibreglass (6 inch studs) and a 1/2 foam vapour barrier. The part that was made in 94 was basically the same except on 4 inch studs s o r12 or 14 I think.

For new construction, I’ve no idea.
For my 114 year old house : Pink, fluffy stuff. No spray-in.

This looks like a newish Mercer Island office

It’s been a while since I was in a house at this phase. I can smell the OSB and lumber (and adhesive)

I have the same question... My scorching hot take is that to me it looks like commitment issues on choosing a material, so the use a little of everything and end up with nothing good.
![]() 09/26/2018 at 21:20 |

That’s about it, exactly. There’s something generic and corporate about it.

Nailed it. Every new bank being built in my area looks just like this. Just need to add a canopy for a drive thru to complete the look.
