I finally got the gap payment! Of course it happens on a day where I stayed home sick because of a migraine that’s affecting my vision.
As soon as it goes away, I’m going to go to the bank and see if I can arrange the financing ahead of time.

Any idea on what you may buy?

Oh, too many ideas. I've looked at everything from a hail damaged Accent to a Lincoln Town Car to a pickup truck with a lift gate.

I’m planning on staying under $6k. If I get something ten years old or newer, I can get a $1000 rebate if it's financed through the same credit union.

I had to dig way too far back to figure this out. What the heck took them 3 months? Were you stuck making payments during this time?
Glad that at least you got the check to pay off the difference so you can now walk away.

I have no idea, but the guy in the bank told me that it’s not unusual for them to take a few months to payout because they investigate so much. I did have to make payments, but they go by the date of loss so I have all of those payments back now.
Even though it took this long, it’s still better than where I’d be if I didn’t have the coverage. This whole thing couldn’t really have gone better. E xcept for getting the money sooner, of course.
