My buddy moved back from California with his 4runner. Today marks the first of many wrenching days. Probably hit up a junkyard later, and then go explore some forest service roads. The perfect Sunday.

I had one just like that a number of years ago. Great rig.

Damn those jack positions look all kinds of sketchy!

What made you ditch it?
This one is a bit of a dog with the v6, but outside of accelerating it just does so many things, so well.

I sure as hell didn’t get under there. With the l ift and bigger tires the jack needs some “help” to be useful

Does it have the “ECT” button? If so, press it.

I bought Jeep GC V8, had that for about 2 years and wasn’t happy with that. Traded it and then went and bought a 2008 V6 4Runner. The V8 4Runner had tranny issues. The V6 is just enough.

Honestly I don’t find the V6 to be all that slow . Especially compared to a second gen. Just don’t be afraid to use some throttle. The mileage won’t drop at all really.

Any unrusty chassis parts you happen to steal borrow from him would have a safe home here... I am fully anticipating breaking off every brake bleeder in a few days. And maybe caliper bolts. And anything else I need to work on.
Haven’t had the front wheels off yet
, but the rear needed two new lug studs just in a brake inspection
.

Wow. That makes a big difference

I compared it to the Miata last time we did a roadtrip together. It's not the slowest car in the world, but it definitely takes some time to get up to speed

It might be a 4WD thing that it feels slower. I’m pretty sure mine could outpace an NA Miata
