Obligatory engine pull picture for buffer.
Pulled the flex plate to clear the bay and get the block out. Found more broken camshaft.
Yes that is a push rod and con rod occupying the same space.
S o it seems as though the back 2 cylinders completely lost their shit and my V8 was a V6 for a bit.

Yep. It likely would no t have run much longer as it had no oil, but I kinda wish I would have kept it going just to see.

H ow does a camshaft break like that, flaw in the original casting? T hat is insane.

I was having oil pressure issues, so I'm fairly certain that the thrown rod(s) then broke the cam. But who the hell knows? PO made many questionable decisions, maybe they also put a cheap-ass cam in there.
