I’ve been through Why, more than one once even. It’s on the way to Puerto Penasco. An aptly named place... The only answers that came to mind for me w ere maybe the wheel feel off the wagon, and for some reason the descendants of those folks never left.

Rocky Point is what I hear it called by some number of people from Arizona, and it is a more recent thing. 15 years ago I never heard it called that. New Mexicans wouldn’t even think to anglicizing the name, much less do it.
The number of big hotels and bad strip restaurants catering to white , drunk Arizonons has increased a lot since the first time I went there as a teenager.
It does still have some charm, though. You can still catch an awesome sunrise and watch the local fishermen go out, and if you catch the market in the old part of town at the right time in the late morning/early afternoon you can very reasonably bu y seafood that was swimming an hour ago. I think there are still some neat old restaurants up on the point.

This is almost as bad as the Weare NH jokes.
Its pronounced where, so the jokes basically write themselves.
Almost like we could play who’s on first, but with towns.
