Fucking touchscreens man. This is in the CX-3

You wouldn’t of noticed it if you were checking your surroundings for safety

Psh, safety? I normally just throw my cars into reverse with my eyes closed. People can see the reverse lights on!

I suspect the visibility in the CX-3 is not great.

NO ONE DENIES THIS

Wow, wierd... It looks lik e its got a sync issue with an analog video signal, but the screen itself is clearly being fed a composted digital signal (the text gives it away...) but the backup camera overlay grid/guide is itself superimposed digitally over the backup camera video, but it appears to get converted from digital to analog and back again... I would think even if they had separate computers doing the different overlays they'd use a digital video interface to keep chip-costs down... But apparently not. I find that puzzling.

Today I learned that Mazda backup cameras go through a VCR before getting to the screen

The Mazda ones all look like someone set up a tablet on top of the dash to watch TV.

Backup cameras use the analouge composite(yellow) old plug akin to your old PS2 or other console, the lines are on some baked-in by the camera unit before shipping out to the headunit. Bad camera that seems to not hold the correct frequency possibly?

looks more like a fault with the camera module to me.

A customer had a 2017 Pathfinder with a similar a couple weeks ago, but it looked like an old TV where the Vertical Hold was shot. It was a laughable throwback to old times. Had a 2015 Accord that that had half the display go black, but it would alternate which side, though the lines on the screen stayed intact. #FirstWorldProblems.
Just like
those two,
Mazda probably owes you a new camera, that’s all as long as there’s no signs of damage and you’re under your basic warranty still.
The
display
software is acting correctly since it has the lines and warnings in place. Thankfully a camera swap should take less than an hour. Ask of they’ll see if there’s any software update
for the infotainment unit while you’re there, so you get more out of the visit.

Never had that problem with my mirrors..........

Heres to hoping this won't plague all Mazdas when the warranty runs out.

It goes through an RF modulator between the camera and the screen. Check the tracking, or get a new one from Radio Shack. Should be all set.

Gotta adjust that V-hold, that’s all.

The signal sure looks like compost alright.
