From the little thumb nail image I thought it would be an Indian or Brasilian VW. The tail lights look like they are from a Mitsubishi Lancer and the badge looks like a bad copy of a Ford oval.

Well, at 10-to-1 in the US, I was going with the more obvious one :D

Plus they occasionally put different front ends on them, which seems like an odd way to differentiate them. Unnecessary work.

Yep, the US, parts of  Eastern Europe, and China are sort of weird about sedans/saloons. Makes no sense to me.
