This handsome ‘95 T100 came across my Facebook feed, and for $1200 I’m certainly thinking about it.
SR5, Xtra cab, 4x4, 5 speed. 199k miles, frame was patched, and needs rear axle seals.
Looks like a pretty good beater truck to me. Anybody have any experience with them?

Check it out but exercise extreme caution. Even with those problems, it’s still really cheap. Y ou’d stab out your eyes if you saw how much these go for here...

More stuff: I drove a loaded '98 4x4 for a while for work. Loved, loved, loved it. 3.4 isn't impressive in a vehicle that big but it gets the job done with no fuss. Oh God I wish I had it back...

To be fair to the Washington price, a) everything is stupid expensive out there and b) yours are probably less rotty than the typical New England Toyota. When I want to make myself mad I go on Seattle Craigslist and look at all the cool, solid old Japanese iron and then my wife (who is from there) tells me I’m an idiot for still living in Rhode Island.

On the other hand, I’m told I’m an idiot for not moving away.

I love the T100. I’d like to find a factory supercharged model in manual.

Maybe you’re both idiots ;)
I am definitely an idiot for staying in Illinois!

Having spent winters on both ends of the country , I think you’re slightly less of an idiot than I am.

Or maybe Illinois is perfectly in the middle of RI and WA so you’ve got it right.

I just learned yesterday that they made supercharged ones, which is pretty awesome. I also learned that the supercharger isn’t backwards compatible with pre-97 trucks, which is less awesome. I don’t need it though, I’m just looking for a truck/winter beater that can occasionally tow a trailer and fill in as transportation when my or my wife’s trucks break down

No, it’s dumb for me to stay here as a teacher. They take 9.6% of my pay as my contribution to my pension, but our pension system is the worst funded in the nation, and I may never see a dime of that back. Teachers don’t get social security either.
The reason I don't leave, is I have no idea where to go. I've never lived anywhere else, and I've traveled very little.

I had one with a frame rotted completely in two on one side, every wheel bearing was loose, and very leaky valve cover gasket for like two months and hot damn was it one of my favorite cars I ever owned. Tracked straight as an arrow at 75 MPH and got 22 MPG highway.
Cool fucking truck. Mine was in way worse shape than that one looks and I paid $2000... patched the frame and sold it for $2200. If the frame was already patched I’d take a REALLY close look at all the metal under there. They don’t make patch panels for these trucks like they do with the Tacomas.
