Unfortunately I forgot my camera, so iPotato will have to do. There were Country Squires(the Mercury version as well), Econolines, Volvos, Mecedes, Audis... There was a little bit of everything. There were probably 30-40 Country Squires. It was amazing. The place is Effingham Motors, and if you Google that and click on the Facebook link, the number is correct. Everything is for sale(the parts are at least) except for the Mustang in the garage. So many malaise cars as well.
To start things off, a real Dan Gurney edition.

How does a place like this happen? There seems to be at least a few neat cars there, slowly rotting away. Is the owner just asking too much for them, and so they sit there and rust until they are totally gone (or the owner dies, whichever happens first)?

In the South, this could be one summer worth of overgrowth . Amazing stuff in there with probably nobody clamoring for parts.

No, he sells stuff pretty often. He started as junkyard, and now just parts this stuff out.

Yeah, you can look at Google and it wasn’t that bad as of recently. There is some malaise gold in the trees. So many old Lincolns that you couldn’t see.

Well that’s a superfund site waiting to happen.
Definitely some cool stuff parked back there!

I kind of figured the front of the place would be(old service station) but I couldn’t find any wells.

Holy fuck.
240Z, two down from an RX-7. The weird beige hatchback? That’s an Isuzu Impulse turbo with Lotus suspension or an Impulse RS. VERY hot hatch. The red thing with the drum rears, looks to be a 280Z .

The drums one is a 240, the 240 earlier is a 280.

Ah, no one will figure it out until the guy dies and a developer wants the land.
I have to say, I rarely call out junkyards (or even unpermitted “car storage facilities” as we usually call the m) but I had a property in LA where the neighbor was living in a shack and hoarding broken vehicles, and what we could see of the dirt lot was completely stained black. It was bad enough that we recommended sampling at the adjacent apartments.

Dear Datsun:
You should have made the tail lights easier to tell apart.
Sincerely, Jalops.

May they all rust in peace.

Early narrow-body Starion with 4-lug wheels. That was rare even in the 80s. Nearly every Starion I ever saw on the road was a gold or black Conquest TSi

If that Gurney Cyclone was complete, and near me, I’d be very tempted to grab it. Sure, you’d never get your money back out of it but sometimes it just about rescuing a really cool car.

I’m totally going to spam this post with snips of photos and unsolicited opinions.
Now if I were you, especially if all 4 (5 perhaps?) of those RONAL stars are good, I’d snag them and post them on VWVortex. Someone would go nuts for them.

Barring anything like serious underbody rust, this is completely saveable.
And it could be a star at Radwood east. That’s happening eventually, right?

I want them. I also found a set of GTI snowflakes. Also, those had BBS center caps.

There were several Cyclones and Torinos... One could be pieced back together.

I’ve only seen red ones.

They aren’t(most of them, they are mostly from SC) as rusty as they look, and they all donate parts so that others might live.

It already happened, and it looked quite clean.

That makes me happy to hear that it isn't going to waste.

Then it’s a good thing that it’s 3000 miles from me because my first car was a 72 Gran Torino and I still have a soft spot for those Torinos and Cyclones.

I confused the BBS RF for the RONAL Penta...

Even a fintail, can’t tell what it is, but I suspect it is a late run car.
The heat and humidity there really shows.

I want to say he said 230 or something like that.

That 1st gen I ntegra LS s pecial addition spoiler and body tupp er ware is worth money to the (relatively few) folks still playing with g1tegs on the street. Did it have good front marker lights (in the fenders)?

That’s right, there was a W110 230 and W111 230S, both were later run cars.

I think it was pretty complete, but I didn’t look too closely at it.
