This particular one is a 2005 model it has, get this, 25,500 miles
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Not only is it a low mileage car, the dash doesn’t have any lights on (maybe the owner had a say in that), and most importantly, it has heated seats. Which I guess weren’t of much use in the scorching heat of Monterrey. Granted, the expired road tax tag might mean trouble.

Hahahahaha, those are all just ticking time bombs. Prepare to spend just as much maintaining and fixing it.

It’ s a down payment. Especially if it’s an SMG.

I have heard that, Which is why I didn’t post the one that was 5 grand cheaper but had all the lights on the dashboard on.
But I guess no lights doesn’t mean no trouble. SMGs are expensive.... His Stigness claims the ones on M3's run 5,000! A newer M5's box must be even more expensive.

I like the forbidden fruit A-class hatch (looks like A45 AMG with that stripe and grille) in the background.
98% chance the E60 lacks working turn signals.

Well, we didn’t get manual E6 0s , I think Americans did though.

Ah, yes, I knew at least one of you would notice the lonesome A class.
It is an A45, If I recall correctly those only got sold with the obnoxious spoiler and pointless bumper slits.
On the E60, you can tell it’s a genuine M5 because it’s parked in the middle of the Cul without any regard for the neighbors mobility.

They sell for like $15k or even less around me. Love these.

Even with such low mileage?
used performance cars are very expensive here, I saw a few E46s selling for 15-17k

A good E46 M3 is often worth the same or more than a comparable E60 M5 due to their enthusiast following and the (reasonable) fear of maintenance costs associated with the E60’s V10.

I... honestly, I really don’t get why you would get yourself into this mess instead of spending that money on like 5 pretty nice old trucks, a few decade old Honda Fits, or like what, two used Abarths?
Disclaimer: I have never been in a performance car in my life. Although it doesn’t sound * that* much fun.

I also saw a VERY neat R32 on sale and an imported NA miata, for around the same price combined!
But I like the E60, one of my family members used to have an M5 just like that one, except post LCI and with grey interiors. it was such a fascinating car, the side bolsters would squeeze you in corners, as a child I thought that was mildly amusing.

I can sort of see that, I kept looking and found a low mileage E46 M3, manual IN Mexico City for around 19,000USD. But who am I kidding, I’m not gonna buy any cars.

The maintenance can be a pain, but the right performance car can be oh so very worth it, assuming you like speed or handling.

Based on what I see, I think it costs too much.
Lets see, 13 year old German “Super Sedan” out of warranty with suspiciously low mileage.
That’s not factoring 11 to 17 mpg on premium fuel and other expensive running/maintenance costs associated with a NA V10 and BMW’s notorious single-clutch SMG.
I remember asking my BMW Indy mechanic if I should buy one of these used a few years ago, he said “That depends,
are you made of money?”
That told me everything I needed to know.

Speed is bad for you and handling is whatever . You can still have some fun in a poorly handling car, your limits are just lower.

I get that too. No right or wrong answer.

Maybe I’ll change my mind the first time I drive something like a BMW

Our X3 35i was only a “performance vehicle” in a loose sense of the word, but having
a 300hp turbo six that would do 0-60 in 5.3 seconds was very nice. Believe me, we used the power often.
