I got a call yesterday that I was needed to get into the crawl space and remove the insulation that the other guys couldn’t  get in. House is for sale ($199,000) but no one would buy it with the friable ACM in the basement. The house is in Hannibal, MO home of Mark Twain author of Huckleberry Finn and other stories.

The house kind of overlooks the Mississippi River, eventually. Really neat old house.

Cool house, but a painfully small kitchen for the size. Someone will fix that.

Friable ACM? Nerp. I didn’t know you worked in remediation.

Been doing it for 19 years now. It’s a job. Pays well enough for only a  high school education.

That’s the job, remove the Asbestos. The other guys got what they could reach - 2’ into the hole- I had to climb in and do the rest. I wore a respirator the entire time.

It’s interesting to see the additions done, like cutting holes for duct boots and leaving the section of wood flooring in the crawl space.

That’s how I feel about my job as a PM.

At least it looks like a cool-ish gray  day. Could have been more uncomfortable if it were sunny and hot.

The asbestos insulation is a thing that people care about where you are?  All of the older houses around here have it (in about the same condition) and most home inspectors are like “eh, whatever”.

Prime Minister?! Sounds pretty fun, got any openings?

I’ll do Canada or New Zealand, or even a Spanish-speaking country if they don’t mind mediocre Spanish.

That’s the story. Guy’s wife died, he remarried, and going to move in with next wife. House doesn’t sell, so spend some money. It’s in the pictures on Zillow, I would have knocked off $20,000 an offer if I was looking at it.

This  was In not great shape, so possibly.

I also wore a tyvek. Suited & booted.

My 1/2 mask accepts P100 HEPA cartridges. I feel safe when I don’t pick out black or white  boogers on the way home.
