I’m looking at buying a used truck and it’s seems like it’s in good condition. I haven’t run a car fax because I’m cheap, and I’m deciding if I should run one.
On my Geico app I get free service history with any VIN. I typed in the truck I am loooing at and got this.
The truck shows close to 140k on the odometer.
Is this type of inconsistency normal for car fax, and should I be concerned?
Looking for advice.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I can pass on this one. Seller also said he was the only owner.

I was curious and feeling generous, so I ran it. It acquired mileage at a more or less steady rate of 18-20k per year from 2005-2016, and then somehow lost 60,000 miles (probably more like 80,000) in the year before the current title was issued in October 2017. If it’s showing 140k now, it’s been rolled back.

Same rules as journalism. Never accept fact as fact and never base your facts off one reference.

Ouch. I’m sure the seller just “forgot” to mention the cluster was replaced...

Absolutely a pile of red flags. Some states fuck up the odometer if it rolls over (5 digit) so Ohio damn near titled my baby as having 79k on the clock, not 179k. Thankfully that did not occur.
The 2005 Ford F150 odometer, ladies and gentlemen:
And wouldn’t you know it? It’s well known for failing.
FRAUD.
