Cabin et box that is. He loves to lounge in the unsealed cabinets. The ones that have been sealed, he has no interest in. He never liked cat condos, but he seems to be a big fan of hard edges and raw plywood. I think I’m gonna build him a kitty cabinet from my scraps when I finish this kitchen up.

This is a good perspective of how big this fluff- monster is.

Are you making the cabinets from scratch?

That reminds me that I need to buy some ball bearing drawer slides for the drawer where we keep our spices. Apparently we have a lot of spices and the drawer isn't rolling out as easily as it should.

He looks like he’d be a good mouser.

Yeah, I built them all from scratch. I wasn't willing to do all this work and use cheap cabinets, and I can't afford to buy good ones. It's been a ton of work, and I've learned a lot, but it's coming out pretty well.

I hope so. We've yet to have any mice in the house, but earlier today my wife saw one outside the house by the garbage cans.

That's awesome. I still don't trust myself to take on a project of that precision or magnitude. My current project is a new dining room chair made of walnut for my oldest daughter. Maybe one of these days when I've made some progress I'll post it here on Oppo.

Honestly, chairs are generally harder  than cabinets.

Kitty!

And of course if you build him something identical for him out of scraps, he’ll ignore it because he’s a cat.

There are lots of pictures of me as a kid playing in cabinets.

You say that, but if something is slightly out of alignment with a chair (other than the legs not being level), I don’t think anyone would complain.  Now if your cabinet doors don’t line up, that’s a lot more visible.

Thats why good hinges have adjustment built into them. And why I would never build frameless cabinets. I assure you, they aren't perfect.
